A finance expert and secretary, Cross River State chapter of Atiku Support Organisation, ASO, Mr. Princewill Obi, yesterday said that one-time Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is the only one who can fix the economy of the country and return the country to it’s past glory, if voted to power as President in the 2023 general election.
Obi, an aspirant for the Etung state constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made the remarks during an interactive session with CompassNG correspondent in Calabar.
Describing Atike as a “grounded person with excess capacity and understanding of the challenges faced by the nation,” Obi stressed that Atiku has all it takes to take Nigeria out of it’s present quagmire.
He said, “Atiku is a grounded person who understands the challenges of this country.
“He is someone who has been in the mantle of leadership and while serving as Vice President, we had a prosperous economy, improvement in ranking in terms of standard of living; even the global perception index of Nigeria improved drastically.
“It is a thing of joy that Atiku is coming again with another opportunity to restore the country’s days of glory.”
The aspirant, who is a financial expert with more than a decade’s experience in the sector averred that the people of Etung are so optimistic that Nigeria’s former Vice President will emerge as Nigeria’s next President, irrespective of all hurdles.
Obi further maintained that the Etung people who depend solely on agriculture, know too well that the economy of the country depends heavily on agriculture.
He stressed further that Atiku is the only one who can use his wealth of experience in the agro sub-sector to attract development to the constituency and the entire nation if given the privilege.
Obi added, “Atiku is an entrepreneur, Etung people are agro based industrialists and we know he understands the right incentives.
“We expect that Atiku’s entrepreneurial prowess will be brought to bear on the good of the people of Etung through incentives and policies that will bring about growth.”
Obi averred that Atiku’s love for the younger generation is not in question, insisting that his Presidency shall include youths once he clinches the nation’s number one spot.
He observed that some of the best minds that the country have at a moment were brought in by Atiku Abubakar when he served the country as Vice President, stressing that Etung youths will be actively involved in governance of the country once Atiku wins as Nigeria’s number one citizen.
