…Congratulates Soludo, Ibezim

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for doing the needful by publishing the name of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Dr. Onyekachikwu Gilbert Ibezim as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the party respectively, for the November 6, 2021 Ananmbra State governorship election.

In a press release made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday and signed by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Tex Okechukwu, the party expressed joy that after several weeks of suspense and confusion, INEC had brought some respite by obeying the judgment of Kano Court of Appeal.

The party, however, regretted that INEC almost destroyed the nation’s democracy by publishing the name of somebody who had no business being there in the first place, thanking God for his mercy and love.

APGA also used the opportunity to congratulate millions of its supporters for their steadfastness, courage and loyalty to it, saying, “We thank our numerous supporters, well-wishers and friends across party lines for standing by us throughout the trying period.”

Congratulations Prof. Soludo and his deputy on this feat and prayed God to bless and keep them, APGA, in the statement added, “Together we will work to repeat the 21/21 record we set in 2017, because our government in Anambra State has performed creditably.”

INEC’s decision to published a revised list of candidates for the Anambra State governorship election was reached at a meeting held by the Commission in Abuja.

In the list released on Thursday, the election management body replaced Michael Umeoji, earlier published as APGA governorship candidate with Soludo, who had emerged from the primary poll conducted by Victor Oye as the National Chairman of the party.

Speaking on the development, Festus Okoye, INEC’s commissioner for information and voter education, said that the updated list of candidates was as a result of a court order (the Kano Appeal Court verdict) received by the commission on APGA, as well as substitution of candidates’ names by various political parties.
