Two persons, Nasiru Dankawu, 25, and his accomplice, Bala Magaji, 18, have been arraigned before a Kano Chief Magistrate’s Court No 10 sitting at No Mans-Land on criminal charges bordering on alleged abduction and rape of one Amira Saidu, 18, a housewife and resident of Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State.

The prosecutor, senior state counsel Abubakar Mohammed, told the court that the defendants, Dankawu and Magaji conspired and armed themselves with fire arms, and proceeded to Yar Labi Village in Tudun Wada Local Government Area, abducted their victim and ferried her to an unknown destination.

First Information Report, FIR, revealed that Amira suffered sexual violations while under the unlawful custody of the defendants.

The five-count charge further stated that the defendants also demanded for the payment of ransom from Amira’s relatives before she would be released from their captivity.

The prosecution told the court that the defendants committed acts of criminal conspiracy, abduction, being in possession of fire arms, rape and attempt to commit kidnapping, explaining that the acts carried out by the defendants contravened the provisions of the penal code laws.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them before the court.

The prosecutor thereafter applied for an adjournment to enable him obtain legal advice and Chief Magistrate Mariam Ahmed Sabo, in her ruling, adjourned the matter to March 31st for further mention.

The court further ordered the prosecution to seek and obtain legal advice from the relevant legal department on or before the adjourned date.
