Former Senate Leader and Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has assured the Vice Chancellor, VC, of the University of Calabar Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi, of his support for her administration.

Ndoma-Egba gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor’s office, describing the VC as a courageous and virtuous woman, who can be ranked among other intelligent women with integrity in Nigeria.

The former chairman of the NDDC board stated that Obi is one woman, who should be respected, having carved a niche for herself in the academic world, calling for support from all nooks and crannies to enable her administration achieve whatever set goals she may have set to pursue, so that she can walk with her shoulders high whenever her tenure elapsed as the Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The former Senate Leader, who lauded the first female and 11th Vice Chancellor of UniCal, since the school was established, charged the VC not to relent in working tireless to taking the school to enviable heights, just as he called for support from all quarters to enable the VC to succeed.

Ndoma-Egba said, “Call on me if need be, especially when there are issues which you know I have the capacity to assist or ability to tackle, whatever challenge you might be confronted with in the course of your administration.”

Responding, the Vice Chancellor, stated that the school shall explore areas of partnership with the former Senate Leader for mutual benefits.

Professor Obi said, “We are privileged to have you in our university, and we are very happy for your interest in us.

“We thank you because we know you have been doing a lot for the university.

“We commend your efforts towards erecting a law faculty building. You are our own and you have been there for us.”

She added that the institution will further explore areas of partnership with the former Senate Leader for mutual benefits.
