The Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, the umbrella body for all Baptist Churches in Nigeria, has issued a circular to all its member-churches on the required guidelines and preparation before the anticipated reopening of churches by the Federal Government and the various state governments.

The circular, which was dated 21st May, 2020 and signed by the Director of Medical and Health Services of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Ibadan, Pastor Dr. P.O Elemile,  advised all Baptist Churches to be prepared for church reopening by observing certain protocols which include: fumigation if church auditoriums and premises; provision of running water for worshipers to wash their hands; make proper seating arrangement in such a way to observe social distancing; reduction of time of service ti between 30 minutes and one hour and ensuring that worshipers do not involve in handshaking.

Other guidelines handed down to be met in preparation for church opening are: proffering advice to worshipers to travel to Church through the safest means of transportation possible; ensuring that all worshipers use facemasks before entering into church auditorium and practice respiratory hygiene; and all church to use infrared thermometers to check worshipers temperature before entering into the auditorium.
