The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has served notice to challenge the victory of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate, Alhasan Ado Doguwa, in the  January 25  Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency rerun election.

The PDP’s candidate in the rerun election, Air Commodore Salisu Yushau, (rtd), has threfore assembled a team of lawyers to file a petition challenging Doguwa’s election as the member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The PDP’s legal team is headed by Ibrahim Isah Wangida, who confirmed that a legal team has been given the brief to commence processes challenging the outcome of the rerun. He disclosed that his team had already complied with the necessary requirements to trigger off the legal tussle to contest the outcome of the rerun poll.

Wangida said that the PDP and its candidate have collated enough evidence to prove their case before the Kano State Election Petition Tribunal, adding that the PDP candidate is contesting the outcome of the elections on the grounds of disenfranchisement of voters and the collation of wards and local government election results in the absence of PDP accredited agents.

Revealing that all necessary applications are being filed accordingly, he added that the PDP has already enlisted all its witnesses and all relevant documents required not only to flag off the litigation against the outcome, but to prove its case in the rerun election for Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency.

Following from this, the Kano State National amd State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal woukd soon be inaugurated to hear the petition and any otyer ariaing for the January 25 rerun election.
