The Minister of jUstice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, has disclosed that a prima facie case had been established against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari.

The Extradition request was in connection with fraud allegations levelled against him by the United States government in the case involving an internet kingpin, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

Speaking during na interview on Channels Television on Monday, the AGF noted that though investigations were still ongoing, he however declared that there are enough grounds to extradite DCP Kyari to the U.S.

He said, “There are lots of considerations that are ongoing, including the possibility of extradition. That is why the collaboration element comes in. There could be a need for extradition.

“As far as I am concerned, parties are discussing; we are collaborating and there are exchanges of correspondence. Reasonable ground of suspicion has been established, and that will eventually translate into prosecution and eventual conviction.

“The position now is that there are prima facie grounds, reasonable grounds for suspicion have been considered from the perspective of prosecution, from the perspective of extradition, if the need for it arises.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation had allegedly indicted Kyari in an alleged multi-million naira advanced fee fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi.
