…Condoles Emir Of Gwandu

The governor in of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, was among multitude of Muslim faithful who witnessed the funeral prayer of late Alhaji Bilyaminu Haruna Rasheed, Iyan Gwandu, which held at the Juma’a Mosque, Emir’s Palace, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday.

Alhaji Rasheed, a cousin to the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, passed away after a brief illness.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to the Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, stated that immediately after the prayers, Governor Bagudu, accompanied by former Minister of Internal Affairs, retired Major-General Muhammadu Magoro, Senator Bala Ibn Na-Allah, Senator Abubakar Na-Amo Abdullahi, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress, APC, in Kebbi State, APC, Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, condoled with the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Bashar, on the death of his cousin, praying Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdausi and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Born in 1959, in Birnin-Kebbi to the 18th Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Haruna Rasheed, the late Alhaji Rasheed attended Haliru Abdu Teachers College and Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.

He served as a teacher and staff of Sokoto State Board of Internal Revenue.

Late Rasheed was a keen politician and member of the Gwandu Emirate Council.

He was appointed the Chigarin Gwandu and upgraded to Iyan Gwandu, as traditional title holder by the Emir of Gwandu on 17th December, 2022.

The late Iyan Gwandu is survived by two wives, children and grandchildren.
