A group of religious leaders operating under auspices of Royal Eagle in Flight International Outreach Nigeria, a.k.a Church Blessings, has adopted and endorsed the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for Calabar Municipality state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly election, Pastor Francis Effanga Edet, as their preferred candidate for Saturday’s poll.

Edet, who said that he is still in the Assembly race despite rumours making the rounds in some quarters that he has stepped down from the contest, promised to provide effective representation for the people of the constituency once he is elected to power.

Speaking during the adoption and endorsement by the leaders of the group at the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, District Headquarters, Ikot Ansa, Four Miles, Calabar Municipality Local Government Area of Cross River State on Thursday, the officiating minister of the prayer session, Chaplain Utibe Williams, stated that with Effanga, residents of Calabar Municipal can be at peace, stressing that Effanga is the only man with capacity and good heart to legislate on laws that if implemented can turn around the fortunes of the constituency.

In his remarks shortly after his adoption by the group, Effanga stated that with him in the chamber of the state House of Assembly, poverty would become a thing of the past, stressing that one of his master plan is to engaged other law makers to formulate laws that would better the lots of the common man in the Constituency.

He said, “It’s high time we changed the narratives, with my presence in the chambers, lawlessness and poverty among youths of the constituency would become a thing of the past.

“Let me use this privilege to debunk all the rumour making the rounds in certain quarters that I have thrown in the towel as a lie from the pit of hell.

“I am still in the contest. This is a lie from my opposition who are so afraid of me being in the contest. I am still very much in the race.”
