Friday, May 5th was the 39th day of the pro-democracy rally, holding daily at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, which was always filled up with many Nigerians of diverse cultures and political persuasions, advocating for unencumbered transition to the incoming administration of President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29th.

The Unity Fountain rally took a unique turn on Day 39 as some professionals, business owners, politicians and rights activists combined to set transportation agenda for the incoming administration, under the guidance of the convener and co-convener, Hon Tosin Adeyanju and Dr. A.A Maiagogo respectively.

In their various submissions, the resource persons emphasized how critical the transportation sector is to the macro and micro-economic development of the nation, urging the incoming administration to make it one of its priority areas of governance.

Calling for improved road infrastructures, which they believe would boost the agricultural sector as a critical element of economic growth for the country, the contributors gave kudos to the outgoing administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on the impressive work done on railways, and therefore urged the Asiwaju Tinubu Presidency to improve further on it.

They also advised the incoming administration to concentrate on urban and rural roads infrastructures, even as they further counselled the government to find the ingenious means of cutting costs on road construction and rehabilitation.

Opining that good road network is indispensable for smooth transportation, the speakers called for a robust government investment in mass transit, in order to support vulnerable citizens for ease of transportation.

The daily pre-inauguration hangouts continue until after May 29, when the incoming administration would have taken over the reins of government at the national level.
