A pro-Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaign organization, the National Independent Campaign Organization for Tinubu, NICOT, has explained why its confidence in Tinubu/Shettima winning the presidential election on February 25, remains unshaken, insisting that the duo parades credentials that are so intimidating that no other combination of other presidential candidates of other political parties could dare.

The Chief Campaigner of the group, Comrade Razaq Olokoba, who spoke through NICOT’s Public Relation Officer, PRO, Comrade Adekunle Adeosun, at Ikeja, the Lagos State capital on Saturday, said, “The group is out to compliment with our existing structure across the country to ensure Nigerians have the best leaders capable of succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari, with a view to moving the country forward from where Buhari would stop on May, 29 this year.”

Adeosun averred that the belief in the ability and capability of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket to win the February 25 presidential poll remains intact and not shaken, based on a couple of factors, including their antecedence, pedigree and performance while in office, saying that experience has shown that the duo of Tinubu and Shettima have all it takes to take the country further towards the Eldorado after the tenure of President Buhari.

Adeosun further reasoned that going by the offices they had held, their experiences, pedigrees and political antecedents, they possess some experiences that would put them at the vantage position to hit the ground running from the first day of their assumption of office, reminding that they have both legislative and executive experiences as former governors, as well as senators, which are said to be vital ingredients for good governance and stable democratic processes in any political sphere across the globe.

He volunteered that Tinubi was at a time a two-term governor of Lagos State, after a stint as a senator of the the Federal Republic of Nigeria; just as Shettima also was a former governor of Borno state for eight years, in addition to being a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, like his senior partner in the race.

He added, “Against this background, we are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that, they would bring their executive and legislative experiences to bear in office to bring democracy dividends to the people of the country the way they did at the lower level for the benefit of the generality of the citizenry.”

Reminding that experience is the best teacher, the NICOT spokesman however disclosed that “mere supporting without taking concrete steps towards the realization of their ambition would amount to nought, ; our teeming members across the country and abroad have intensified efforts at sensitizing the eligible voters on the importance of the need to obtain Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, insisting that anything beside that would just amount to wishful thinking.
