A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Benue State, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Jime, has congratulated the state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on his victory at the tribunal, where his election in the gubernatorial poll held on March 18, 2023 was upheld.

Delivering the unanimous verdict affirming Alia’s victory in the gubernatorial election, the three-man Benue State Election Petition Tribunal, headed by Justice Ibrahim Karaye, held that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to entertain pre-election matters raised by the petitioners, Titus Uba and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a congratulatory message to the governor, Jime, an former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and former member of the House of Representatives, said that with the tribunal ruling, the will of Benue citizens have been reaffirmed.

Jime, who is the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers Council, NSC, said, “Congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia. The judgment is a reaffirmation of the will of the people of Benue State. He must be gracious in victory. Now he must focus on delivering qualitative and purposeful leadership, and in doing so, must carry all Benue citizens along in an all inclusive and equitable manner so as to engender faith and a sense of renewal in our people that better days are ahead.”
