The Ogun State government has declared Tuesday, January 24th and Wednesday, 25th, 2023, as work-free days for civil servants in the state public service to enable them collect their permanent voter cards, PVCs.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Kunle Somorin.

The statement stated that the work-free days were declared following the extension granted for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards, till January 29, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The statement reads in part, ”Governor Dapo Abiodun has graciously approved Tuesday, 24th and Wednesday, 25th January as work-free days to enable public servants to collect their PVCs from their respective local government.

“Governor Abiodun enjoined all executive members of public markets and private establishments to allow flexibility in their schedules for residents to use the opportunity to visit INEC offices or collection centres where they registered to collect their PVCs.”

Governor Abiodun added that “voting is a civic responsibility,” insisting that all eligible citizens must be allowed to exercise their rights to choose who governs them.
