Ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for February 25, 2023, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State, Mr. Vanatious Ikem, has described the just concluded five-million-man match organized by the party in Calabar, as show of strength and staff of authority that the PDP can
match the streets of Cross River without any intimidation.

Ikem made the remarks while addressing the crowd of party supporters, shortly before the kick-off of the five-million-man match in support of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the state governorship candidate, Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor.

Ikem said, “I want to thank everyone who made themselves available here for this fitness walk, that despite the challenging times that has to do with transportation, including the cash that would have helped in procurement of transportation.

“We may not have made the five man million mark, but we have made an appreciable number, hoping that many are coming to join the queue as we match along the streets of the city to complete the fitness match.

“And that we shall vote freely, we believe that our people have made their position known, that we will vote PDP. We need to be fit for that moment on Saturday, so that by the time some of us have left the city to vote in our various communities, those that would be left behind can have the courage and strength to do the needful.

“I know that we have made up our minds to vote all our candidates, five all over five, from Atiku Abubakar for President, to Prof. Sandy Onor as governor and others in between. Let’s match like this and match till Saturday.”
