Journalists in Oyo State have be n charged to shun actions that are capable of causing disunity amongst them, but rather work together for the growth if the profession.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade ‘Demola Babalola, who gave the charge on Tuesday during the inauguration of new executive members of 32 FM chapel, Ibadan, also urged journalists in the state to maintain utmost integrity, as they discharge their duties as members of the fourth estate of the realm.
The inauguration took place at the premises of the of the broadcast station at Dugbe, Ibadan.
Admonishing the new executives of 32 FM chapel, to strife and do everything possible to keep the chapel afloat, Babalola further advised the new chairman of the chapel to be transparent in his dealings with members of the union.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager of 32FM, 94.9FM, Mr Samuel Akintan, commended the Oyo State Council of the NUJ, noting that members of the fourth estate of the realm are key factors in the development of a nation.
Mr Akintan therefore advised the new executive members of 32FM chapel to continue to ensure that the chapel stands out in news reportage.
In his acceptance speech, the pioneer chairman of 32FM Chapel, Mr Chike Ogbogu, promised to move the chapel to the next level of development and solidify its status as a stakeholder in the Oyo State Council of the NUJ.
Ogbogu described the task ahead of the new nad pioneer executives as enormous, adding that “it is a responsibility the executives have accepted wholeheartedly.”
Other members of the executive council of the chapel include: Peter Olasupo,Vice Chairman; Oluwatoyin Fasalejo, Secretary; Temilade Aloko, Treasurer; Emmanuel Ibikunle, Financial Secretary; Olanrewaju Adepoju, Assistant General Secretary; and Yusuf Badmos, Auditor.
