The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, has urged citizens and residents of the state to live in peace and coexist in harmony, insisting that these are some of the tenets of the Eid-el-Kabir season.

The deputy governor said this while speaking to journalists after the Sallah prayer by Muslim faithfuls at the central Eid praying ground in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Urging the people to be patient with government, as it is working towards fixing the state, Engr Olaniyan appealed to the people to emulate the life of Prophet Ibrahim, whose sacrificial life and dedication to God is the reason for this festive Eid-el-Kabir.

He pointed out that the life of the prophet symbolises a life that is dependable, seeing that he made a promise to God and fulfilled it in trying to sacrifice his only son before God provided a ram for sacrifice.

Olaniyan said that the main lessons he will implore everyone to learn from this is to “stay true to our words, to persevere, to live in peace and be prayerful at all times as all things will come out perfect.”
