The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has applauded the verdict of Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which struck out the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the October 10, 2020 gubernatorial election, Eyitayo Jegede.

The Ondo APC said that the victory is for the people of Ondo State, who abandoned everything on October 10, 2020, to cast their votes.

The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal, which sat in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday, April 20, dismissed Jegede’s petition against the election of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the APC for a second term as Ondo State governor.

Congratulating the chairman of the state APC Caretaker Committee, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and Governor Akeredolu, his running mate, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, and all the teeming supporters of APC in the state, the APC said, “They have all been vindicated by the sound judgment.

“We commended the tribunal for being dispassionate, and objective in considering all the arguments, and counter-arguments assembled before it, while the trial lasted.

“The party further showers appreciation on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for sticking to what is fair and reasonable.”

Wondering how a candidate that scored three over eighteen in an examination could expect to be declared successful, the APC added, “The PDP wanted victory through the backdoor.”

The Ondo APC advised the main opposition party to accept the judgment in good faith, and put its house in order, while preparing for future elections.”
