The Kano State government has line-listed about 292 persons who are likely to be quarantined, following the death of three persons due to the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, who confirmed the deaths to journalists, cautioned that the line-listed persons are those who had frontline contact with those who died from the ailment.

Disclosing that those line-listed are under close monitoring, with state health officials keeping vigil over them, Tsanyawa revealed that a medical facility located at Yar Gaya has been fully equipped to quarantine any of the line-listed persons who is discovered to have developed further symptoms.

He said that the state Ministry of Health has intensified surveillance, noting that anyone found to have contrated the ailment would be denied freedom of movement to curtail further spread of the disease in the state.
