The Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, RSUBEB, has said that it has concluded arrangement to engage the best hands into the teaching and non teaching service.

The board also stated that it would make sure that the best brains are recruited to energize the service, stressing that mediocres have no place in the teaching profession.

The Executive Chairman, Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, Senator Stephen Odey, made the remarks while interacting with journalists on Tuesday, in Calabar, shortly before the kick-off of recruitment interview of teachers by SUBEB on day one.

Odey stressed that SUBEB has put in place a machinery to ensure that only candidates who qualified are recruited into the state teaching service.

Senator Odey, who once represented Cross River North denatorial district at the National Assembly said, “We are recruiting shortlisted candidates, who qualified into teaching and non teaching positions to energize the teaching service.”

Odey, who led the screening and interview panel said, “We are going to ensure that only qualified candidates are recruited to fill in vacant positions.”

The state SUBEB had about a month ago advertised to recruit candidates into the teaching and non-teaching service.

This followed announcement by the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, during the budget presentation at the Cross River State House of Assembly chambers, that the state civil service has lost about 80 percent of it’s best hands to retirement.
