The lawmaker representing Gwoza/Damboa/Chibok federal constituency, Honourable Usman Jaha, popularly known as Babawo, has presented four ambulances, 13 Sienna utility buses, 360 refrigerators and 100 sewing machines to the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, for distribution to the Borno people.

Jaha, who is also the National Assembly member-elect for a second term in the federal constituency in Borno State stated that the four ambulances, purchase at a total cost of N45 million each, were to be distributed to the four hospitals in Gwoza, Damboa, Chibok, and Ngoshe, a border community with Cameroon Republic, which were also destroyed by Boko Haram terrorists, before they were reconstructed by the state government.

Distributing the empowerment machines and materials, on Saturday, in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum, disclosed, “Today’s event is in line with the state government’s policy in addressing unemployment and poverty among youths in the state.”

He added that the distribution of buses, refrigerators and sewing machines by Jaha Babawo could create more job opportunities for the unemployed youths and women in the state.

On the strategic importance of the ambulances, he said that a lot of lives could be saved, including the safe deliveries of babies in the four hospitals.

Jaha added that the 300 sewing machines were donated by the National Centre for Women Development, NCWD, while 60 others are donated by friends and political associates.

He added that the four ambulances are part of his consituency projects donated by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, while the 100 sewing machines were collectively donated by his closest friends in various parts of the country.

The lawmaker said that this is not the first time, he was presenting empowerment materials to the people of the constituency, as this present intervention formed parts of about 13 different empowerment initiatives from his first term legislation.

Responding, an elderstateman from the constituency, and former commissioner in Borno State, Hon Kaumi Damboa, commended the lawmaker for his good representation at the green chamber, which he admitted, has brought about meaningful development to the people of Chibok/Damboa and Gwoza local government areas in the state.
