The Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad Asha, is dead, while awaiting the result of his COVID-19 test.

A family source, who pleaded anonymity said that the traditional ruler died on Sunday morning at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.

He revealed that the emir died while they are still awaiting the results carried out on his COVID-19 status.

He said, “We really don’t know whether he was killed by the COVID-19 or not. Because up till this morning, we have not received the results.”

Emir Asha ascended to the throne 16 years ago.

As at the time of filing this report, preparations for his burial were in top gear, as many residents of Kaura Namoda trooped to the palace on receiving the sad news.

Meanwhile, there is yet to be any official statement either from the palace or the state government.
