…Goes Tough On Members Who Engage In Anti-Party Activities

By Nsan Ndoma-Neji, Calabar

Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State have been warned that the party will no longer tolerate any act of lawlessness.

Ha ding down the warning yesterday was the state APC chiarman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, yesterday shortly after the inauguration of the state executive committee of the party.

Ogar said that he would not hesitate to apply the full wrath of the law on any member of the APC in the state who engages in anti-party activity.

Ogar dropped the warning while deliverying his inaugural speech at the APC state secretariat in Calabar yesterday.

Promising to do everything within his powers to lift the party to an enviable height in the state, the chairman warned that the party leadership would not sit down and fold it’s arms and watch the party destroyed, advising party faithful to do those things that can only promote the party, rather than engaging in acts that would drag the party anti-clock wise.

He said, “I and members of my executive committee will not sleep until we deliver on the mandate handed to us.”

In a brief chat with journalists after the inauguration, Ogar said, “I thank the Almighty God for the grace He has given to me and the party; I also thank His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade, for not just the opportunity given to me; but also for the support.

“Last week I was inaugurated as the substantial state chairman of the APC and today I am inaugurating the other 35 state executive committee members. We have two major religions in Nigeria, and APC is the third religion; after Christianity and Islam.

“While others are preaching hatred, we in the APC are preaching peace and love. With the training and experience I have garnered from my Due Process Office as the DG, we shall instill discipline in the party.

“Indiscipline and corruption are the main issues in our politics, but I am a different specie.”

Commenting on the upcoming by-election, for Yala/Ogoja federal constituency, where the of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would lock horns with that of the APC, Ogar stated that he is sure that the APC is going to emerge victorious.

He said, “I am so sure that APC shall win in the by-elections in C’River North and Akpabuyo state constituency.

“Our primaries for both elections were rancour-free and that is a good sign. APC is prepared, because we have political gladiators in all the Cross River North as well as Akpabuyo wards.

“Take a journey to Cross River North; the lexicon you shall hear remains, ‘Jude morning, Jude afternoon, Jude evening and Jude o’ clock’…we are completely ready.

“In this by-elections, while others are talking about money; we are talking about the people.

“My message is simple: we have come to appeal to the people, Cross River State is APC and the future shall be better with APC.”

Members of the state APC executive committee, who were inaugurates included: deputy chairman, Prince Eka Williams; state Secretary, Bassey Offiong Mensah Esq; treasurer, Inyang Godwin John; financial Secretary, Effiom Bassey Effiong; Woman Leader, Dr Pauline Akor; Youth Leader, Emmanuel Okon Bassey; welfare officer, Okara Ekawu; publicity Secretary, Eramus Ekpang; amongst others.
