The Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, will, on March 21, inaugurate the University of Fortune, established by a business mogul, Chief Jimoh Ibrahim, and located at Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government area of the state.
Akeredolu will also lay the foundation of the university’s Senate building, Faculties of Law, Humanities and Applied Health Sciences, infirmary and staff quarters, among others.
In a statement issued in Okitipupa on Tuesday, Ibrahim said that the establishment of the university was borne out of genuine concern and the desire to make critical intervention in the delivery of quality university education in Nigeria.
Insisting that the institution was put together to offer the finest university education, with its unique offerings and innovative delivery methodologies, coupled with great infrastructure designed to make learning conducive, the ‘Turn-Around-Expert added that the institution was desirable at this particular stage in Nigeria to promote rapid growth and response to intense demand for different skills.
He said, “The proposed University of Fortune is borne out of genuine concern and the desire to make a critical intervention in the delivery of high-quality university education in Nigeria.
“The university is being put together to offer the finest education, with its unique offerings and innovative delivery methodologies, coupled with great infrastructure designed to make for sound learning.
“It is also aimed at building a rich pool of adequate human resources for management in all strata.
“The institution is envisioned by its promoter, having himself been driven by strong thirst for wide varieties of knowledge at the world’s finest institutions such as Universities of Havard, Oxford and Cambridge, among others.”
Among dignitaries expected to grace the formal inauguration of Fortune University is Mr Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF; while Oba Gbadebo Bajowa, the Rebuja of Osoroland, will lead other traditional rulers to the ceremony.
