The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the re-appointment of the Director General, National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency NBRDA, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, for a second tenure.
According to a statement released Prof Mustapha’s Press Secretary, Toyin Omozuwa, “His reappointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government if the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, fnim, CON.”
He added, “Prof. Mustapha’s second tenure is with effect from 31st October, 2024, and is in line with the provisions of Section 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022.”
The statement indicated that “industry experts consider his reappointment as an expression of President Tinubu’s confidence in his ability to drive innovation towards attaining food security, enhanced pharmaceutical production, and position Nigeria at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His reappointment is an opportunity to build on his salutary record of achievements in the last 4 years.
“Mustapha is a Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry from Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State. His extensive wealth of experience in the academia and industry will dynamise the ethical practice of biotechnology for national development.”
