Nigeria’s apex military tertiary institution, the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, has confirmed the compromise of its security architecture, early Tuesday morning, by unknown gunmen, who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka and abducted some officers, and killing one in the process. .
A press statement by the Public Relations Officer of the NDA, Major Bashir Muhd Jajira, confirming the security breach stated that “during the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.”
Major Jajira added, “The Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command, as well as other security agencies in Kaduna State has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.
“The NDA community and cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that these unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.”
Meanwhile, unconfirmed report claimed that one of the abducted Majors has died.
The circumstances surrounding the demise of the abducted Major are yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing in this report.
