The Nasarawa State government on Thursday approved that only Senior Secondary School 3 exit classes will resume on August 10, 2020 in all public and private schools in the state.
The approval for the resumption of only SSS 3 exit classes in the state was contained in a statement issued to journalists in Lafia by the state Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatu Sabo.
She explained that the reopening of schools in the state was in line with the announcement by the Federal Government to reopen schools for exit classes as from August 4, 2020 to take their final examinations.
Consequently, the education commissioner said the state government was making necessary arrangements to fumigate/disinfect public schools, provide hand washing facilities and thermometers for temperature check among staff and students.
Hajiya Sabo said, “All private schools are directed to submit their self-assessment forms/check list to the department of quality assurance of the state ministry of education to obtain clearance as a precondition for the reopening of their schools.
“To make the school environment safe and conducive for academic activities, it is mandatory for both staff and students to adhere strictly to face mask wearing, observing social distancing in classes and laboratories, hand washing and application of sanitizers.”
