The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, on Monday, October 11, 2021, sensitized intending contractors on e-procurement process of bidding at LASUBEB Multi-Purpose Hall, Maryland, Ikeja.

The gathering, themed: ‘Emphasis on Contractors’ Response on E- Procurement Processes,’ is aimed at informing and enlightening intending contractors on processes of electronic procurement, implementation of e-tendering, e-publishing, e-bidding and e-award models in bidding for years 2019/2020 Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC/LASUBEB intervention projects.

Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Hon.Wahab Alawiye-King, stated that the process is to avoid the extant bureaucracy prevalent with the manual procurement process.

He explained that the introduction of e-procurement platform is to eliminate excessive physical interactions, deepen the implementation of projects, workability and effectiveness of procurement and also speed up the delivery of critical projects in the state.

While commending the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for establishing the electronic platform under the third pillar of the THEMES agenda – Education and Technology.

Alawiye-King furthered that it will encourage accountability, transparency, competition, fairness and value-for money.

Alawiye-King noted that the process will ease business transactions between government and stakeholders, with service providers in procurement cycle to conduct business engagements from their comfort zones.

He urged the contractors to take advantage of the meeting for clarification and also follow the due process as contained on the platform.

The Director General, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, LASPPA, Mr. Fatai Onafowote, ably represented by Mr. Akintunde Moruf Subair, stated that the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is poised to running an inclusive government, adding that the e-bidding system is encrypted, interactive and can be accessed from any part of the world.

Onafowote added that it is to ensure that the bidding system and award of contract is transparent, noting that contractors can download, upload, submit and print documents for bidding online.
