…Ranked Category A University In Nigeria In Times Higher Education 2024 Ranking
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, has been ranked the Best University in Veterinary Medicine in Nigeria and the Best University in Animal Science in the country by research.com
Better still, Times Higher Education, THE, World University Ranking 2024, also ranked FUNAAB as Category A institution in Nigeria.
FUNAAB achieved the triple feats within 48 hours this week – Tuesday and Wednesday – and it came two months after the institution was ranked the Best Public University In Nigeria.
According to research.com, “This year edition of ranking of the best university in the field of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine relies on data combined from a wide range of data sources including OpenAlex and CrossRef.”
It added, “The bibliometric data for devising the citation-based metrics were collected.
Position in the ranking is based on a sum of D-indexes of all ranking scientist’s affiliated with a given institution.”
According to research.com, “D-index takes into account only publications and citation data for an examined discipline.”
FUNAAB was trailed by Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, and other older generation institutions.
In the same vein, Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2024 has ranked FUNAAB as Category A University in Nigeria, in the main ranking status.
Times Higher Education in its 2024 results released on Tuesday ranked FUNAAB among the first 10 best universities in Nigeria and ninth in the 13 Category A listed universities in the country.
According to Times Higher Education, “The rankings include 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings till date.”
It added, “The table is based on 13 carefully caliberated performance indicators that measure institutions performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
FUNAAB was trailed in Category A by Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho – 10th, Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo – 11th, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka 12th, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife – 13th; and University of Port Harcourt, UniPort – 14th.
Convenant University, Ota, topped the list of the first five institutions in Category A in Nigeria, it was trailed by University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, University of Lagos and Bayero University.
Abia State University led 19 other universities in the list of the lower Category B ranked universities.
According to the new World Ranking, FUNAAB is a Category A university.
