The Police in Kwara State at the weekend confirmed the abduction of three family members made up of a husband, his wife and his sibling at Agbamu, in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state
News went round on Saturday night that at about 10 p.m at Owoyale-Agbamu, in between Agbamu and Oro towns, the victims, whose names were given as Alhaji Moshood Owoyale, Alhaji Abdulkazeem Owoyale (who are siblings), and Alhaji Moshood’s wife were kidnapped in their home.
Owoyale-Agbamu in Ajase Ipo Ward 2 of Irepodum Local Government Area is not known to be a dark spot in recent time, when kidnapping that had been rampart for over three years in the southern part of Kwara State began.
The flash points had been Isin, Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Ifelodun and Irepodun local government areas, all in the Southern region of the state, with constant cases in Isin and Ekiti local government areas.
The three family members were said to be forcefully taken away from their home into the dark night and were yet to be located as at the time of filing this report on Monday.
Confirming the incident, Kwara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Supol Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, in a statement said, “The Kwara State Police Command is aware of an unfortunate kidnap incident that occurred on 1st February 2025 at about 2200 hours.
“It was reported that unknown armed men stormed Owoyale village along Oro-Agbamu road and forcefully whisked awya three persons to an unknown location: Alhaji Moshood Owoyale, Alhaji Abdulkazeem Owoyale (siblings), and the wife of Alhaji Moshood.
“The Police, alongside the vigilante/hunter groups, had swung into action, combing the forest to rescue the three victims unhurt and apprehend the criminals behind this act.
“Further developments on the outcome will be communicated as they progress.”
