In a bid to ensure that operators of schools adhere strictly to the school calendar designed by the Cross River State Ministry of Education, the state government has called on both students and operators of public and private schools to resume schools on January 8, 2024 after the long holidays of Christmas and New Year.

The state Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, made the disclosure on Wednesday, in Calabar while speaking on the need to get schools resumed, adding that the resumption date scheduled earlier for January 8, 2023 still remains sacrosanct.

A statement issued by the state Ministry of Education, dated January 2, 2024 and sighted by our correspondent asked operators of both private and public schools to resume school activities on January 8,2024.

The Ministry of Education circular with reference number: MOE/SEC/544/Nol.1/20, signed in behalf of the Ministry of Education by the Director of Schools, Mrs. Amos Okama Ubi, asked all schools operating in the state to adhere strictly to the January 8 date earlier announced as resumption date for second term of 2024/2025 academic session.

The Education Ministry circular reads, “I have the directive of the Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, Ph.D, to remind you that the resumption date for all private and public secondary and primary schools in the state remains the 8th of January, 2024.

“This is to reiterate the earlier directives on the uniformity in the academic calendar, which must be strictly adhered to. Please be guided.”
