A non-governmental organization, NGO, Child Education and Community Development Initiative, CECDI, yesterday said that it has disbursed N2.5 million to 250 identified HIV/AIDS households in Nasarawa State.

Programme Manager of the CECDI, Aboki Jonah, made this known while speaking with journalists in Lafia, the state capital.

The Programme Manager added that the disbursement was its Households Economic Strengthening for Persons Living with HIV, in which it has so far disbursed cash transfer assistance of N10,000 each to 250 beneficiaries drawn from Nasarawa, Keffi and Kokona local government areasof the state in the past five years of the project.

He said, “Our Block Grant Scheme for education support for each local government area for secondary schoosl had a budget of N1 millon in the three local government areas.

“For primary schools, we had N833,304 for each school of Garaku Pilot Primary School, in Keffi Kofan Hausa Primary School and Nasarawa Central Primary School.”

The Programme Manager added that CECDI has also trained 50 persons on skills acquisitions and equally equipped them with start-up kits, adding, “CECDI has also constructed clinics at Tudun Abu and Sarkin Noma communities of Keana Local Government Area, as well another clinic at Ohina Mada community of Doma Local Government Area.”
