No fewer than 5,043 secondary school students in Ogun State have been trained on how to use the ABACUS counting machine skills to solve addition and subtraction Mathematical problems, so as to enable them to break world record.
The programme, organised by International Academy for the Gifted, IAGIFTED, in collaboration with Ogun State government, held at Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Giving an insight to the programme, wife of the governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, said it is imperative to encourage learners to adopt usage of abacus skills for mathematical calculations, noting that it would not only enable them compete favourably with their mates in other nations of the world, but also take our educational system to a higher pedestal.
Mrs. Abiodun noted that Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics, STEAM, education is only essential tool for personal and professional development for driving innovation and economic goals, hence the reason for Prince Dapo Abiodun government’s commitment towards ensuring that every child have access to effective STEAM teaching.
The wife of the governor of Ogun State described education as the key to unlocking the potentials of the youths and empowering them to become agent of change in the society.
