A 25-year old man, Ayo Ogundioe, was on FridayrFriday at the Ado Ekiti Correctional Centre by a Chief Magistrates over alleged armed robbery and attempted murder.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged armed robbery and attempted murder.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 4 in Emure-Ekiti.

She alleged that the defendant robbed and attempted to murder one Olakunle Victoria, Olakunle Taiwo, Olakunle Kehinde and Ibitoye Sunday.

Ikebuilo told the court that the defendant went to the house of the family, robbed them of their money, phones and destroyed their electronics.

She added that the defendant also matcheted the mother twice on the head, the children and their neighour, Mr Ibitoye Sunday.

Noting that the offences contravened Section 402(2) and 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, the prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The plea of the defendant was not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adefumike Anoma, ordered the remand of the defendant at the Correctional Centre , pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case until August 13 for mention.
