President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned an emergency meeting of the Council of State for key decision on the ruling of the Supreme Court over the demonetisation policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

This follows a crucial meeting the President held with the governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, early Thursday morning.

Recall that the CBN on Wednesday granted na ex-parte order, stopping the CBN and the Federal Government from enforcing the February 10 deadline for the swap of the old naira for the new naira notes.

This follows a suit brought before the apex court by the governments of the Kaduna, Kebbi and Kogi states, to stop the Federal Government and the CBN from enforcing the deadline fixed for February 10.

Expected at the meeting are: the President, the Vice President, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, all state governors, former Presidents and former CJNs alive, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF.

The governor of the CBN and the chairman of the Independent Natıonal Electoral Commission, INEC, will also be in attendance.
