An international non-governmental organisation, NGO, operating under the aegis of Black Diamond Africa Beauty Restoration Foundation has charged the Cross River State government to provide safety for its workers at construction site once the execution of the proposed N1 billion tourist attraction centre in Abia community in Etung Local Government Area of the state commences.

Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the NGO, headquartered in the South-South geo-political zone, Rev. Black Diamond Agbor, made the charge during a courtesy visit to the wife of Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, Rev. Mrs. Eyoawan Bassey, in Calabar yesterday.

Agbor averred that the organisation is doing everything humanly possible to finance the project, while the safety of workers at the project site shall fall on state government, whose responsibility is to secure lives and property.

HE stressed further that Black Diamond had concluded plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the state government regarding the provision of safety for workers who will be on site once the project kick-starts.

Agbor said, “We are keen at joining hands with state governent in developing the state, given the fact that we have no other state than our dear state.

“We are interested in joining hands with the governent of the day to do something and also extend it to other places.

“Our intention is to begin with Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, take care of some of the access roads and make them accessible before taking up a number of other projects.”

The CEO emphasized that Black Diamond have some preequisite conditions, which they need to sort out with the governent before deliverying on what they have for the people, lauding the governor’s wife for the audience.

Giving insight on why the management of Black Diamond paid the courtesy visit on Gov Otu’s wife, Agbor maintained that the visit was aimed at getting a buy in from the state government to ensure the actualization of the project.

In her remarks, the wife of the state governor, Rev. Otu lauded the team for the courtesy visit and promised to assist the foundation actualize it’s dream that it has for the state.
