The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has been lauded for its giant stride in infrastructure development of the country.
Giving the commendation, yesterday was the All Progressives Congress, APC, Youth Lobby Group, which said that the Buhari administration is strengthening ties in Nigeria through the numerous road construction and other infrastructural developments undertaken by the administration.
Addressing a crowd of youths in Ikom Local Government Area, the commercial nerve centre of Cross River State, on behalf of the lobby group, the Cross River State Commissioner for Finance, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Jr.lauded the present administration on the giant stride made, particularly in Cross River State, where a multi-million naira new bridge that aides motorists to access Benue State and some of the communities in the Republic of Cameroon was constructed by administration of President Buhari.
He said that the bridge would be one legacy to be left behind after the exit of this administration, stressing that the lofty project would be used by many to remember the President, even when his tenure ellapsed.
The Cross River State Finance Commissioner, who is also a governorship aspirant in the 2023 Cross River State gubernatorial race, stated that the bridge is a huge investment that connects the South to the Northern part of the country.
He said, “This bridge has made the movement of tankers and other articulated vehicles coming from Southern Cross River State to the Central and Northern parts of the state easy.
“Before now, vehicles from Cross River State go through the South-Eastern states to access the Northern parts of the nation, but with this bridge, that is a thing of the past, cutting travel time.
“Apart from investing in the Ikom bridge, the Federal Government at the moment is dualizing the Odukpani/Itu road and putting in billions in the construction of the second Niger Bridge.
“These infrastructures are life wires of the eastern and southern states of the nation.”
Ekpeyong Jr. lauded the Buhari administration for the project, stressing that the administration has done better than previous administration that sat on the saddle for 16 years and could not execute major projects like the Ikom bridge and other projects across the nation, now being executed by the PMB’s administration.
He added, “Even though Cross River State was not an APC state, the APC-led Federal Government kept sentiments aside and did what was best for the Nigerian people.
“This is a testament to the leadership of President Buhari and the competence of the Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his team in the Ministry of Works.
“I think that with the level of investment that has been put down, the people of Cross River State should start considering APC in the forthcoming general election, and called on residents of the state to support the administration of PMB so that it can finish strong.”
