A legal practitioner, Barrister Tiamiyu Sule Adegboyega Omoloye, is among the 12 princes who have indicated interest in occupying the vacant obaship stool of Elende of Eko-Ende, a community in Ifelodun North Local Council Development Area, LCDA, in Osun State.

The stool became vacant on Sunday, March 23, this when the last occupant, the late Oba Rauf Olaniyan Ajiboye, from Olaigbo Ruling House, joined his ancestors.

Before Oba Olaniyan Ajiboye was Oba Raji Oladosu, who hailed from the Eesaorun lineage of the Ayedun Ruling House. Ayedun Ruling House has three lineages: Obatiwajoye, Aromawe and Eesaorun.

And with the departure of the last Elende from Olaigbo Ruling House, the other two remaining lineage of the ruling house – Obatiwajoye and Aromaye are expected to produce the next successor.

CompassNG gathered that the 12 contenders emerged in a family meeting, held on October 11, 2023, under the supervision of officials from the LCDA, after they were confirmed to have collected forms, after being duly nominated by stakeholders from the ruling house.

Among the candidates is an Osogbo-based legal practitioner, Prince Omoloye from Obatiwajoye lineage of Ayedun Ruling Houe. He holds Master’s degree in law from the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, Osun State.

Other contenders, according to the minutes of the family meeting, jointly signed by Princes Bamigbade Tijani Omosanjo and Oyekunle Sulaiman, Secretary and Head of Ayedun Ruling House respectively are: Princes Jimoh Lateef Bababtunde, Adebisi Yunusa Adeniyi, Adeboye Samuel, Waheed Adekunle, Prince Aroyehun, Oladosu Wahab Abiodun, and Oladosu Isiaka, among others.

It is expected that the government would soon come up with its decision on how to quickly settle the chieftaincy issue in the sleepy town.
