A senior staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Finance, Mrs Olajumoke Oyawoye, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for defrauding innocent members of the public with fake government employments.

Mrs. Oyawoye was alleged to have defrauded many job seekers under the guise of helping them to get jobs in both federal and state employments.

Oyawoye, a level 14 officer with the Kwara State Ministry of Finance allegedly received various sums, amounting to about N3 million from her victims, who are seeking for jobs and issued them fake offer of appointments.

Trouble started for the Kwara senior civil servant when two separate petitioners approached the Ilorin Zonal Office of the anti-graft body, alleging that Mrs Oyawoye claimed she had been helping people to secure employments in federal parastatals and the state civil service.

The petitioner said, “I met her on April 27, April 2018 in my Church in Offa, she informed me and other church members that she used to help people get employment at the Kwara State Civil Service Commission and Federal Government parastatals.

“She told me that the money for the state employments is N250,000.00 per slot while the one for Federal Government parastatals is for N350,000.00”

He stated further that he “met her again in Ilorin,  I informed her that my children and other Church members are interested in both the state and federal appointments which include the Nigerian Immigration Service.

“I gave her three names of interested applicants, I gave her the sum of N2 million and she promised that the applicants have already been employed.

“In September 2018, I discovered that all she said was false and the people she collected money from through me were pestering me to return their money while she kept giving serious of excuses.”

The EFCC in a statement signed by its Head, media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujare, said items recovered in her house when searched include:  Curriculum Vitae, CVs, of her victims, letters of offers of appointment of both Kwara State Civil Service Commission and federal parastatals among others.

Investigations into her nefarious activities are said to be ongoing, as the EFCC said she will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
