…Holds Interactive Session With Ekiti TUC
The gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, AP, in the forthcoming June 22 governorship election in Ekiti State, Basorun Reuben Famuyibo, has said that he should not be addressed as His Excellency, now or if and when, by the grace of God, he becomes the governor of Ekiti State.
Basorun Famuyibo, popularly known as BRF, said this on Wednesday, during an interactive session with the Ekiti State council of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, ahead of forthcoming election.
Lamenting that the history of the creation of Ekiti State is being distorted by certain forces for personal aggrandizement, Basorun Famuyibo explained to the labour leaders his role and sacrifice on how Ekiti State came into existence.
He further lamented the level of suffering and poverty that pervades Ekiti State, as a result of the maladministration of present and past administrations, pledging that if given the opportunity to govern the state, he is ready to work with everyone for the upliftment of Ekiti and her people.
He said, “I’m not desperate to be governor of Ekiti State, but I’m desperate to move Ekiti State forward. I am desperate to elevate Ekiti to a higher pedestal and bring happiness to the faces of the people.”
Earlier, in his welcome address, the chairman of the Ekiti State council of TUC, Comrade Olusola Adigun, appreciated Basorun Famuyibo, for coming to meet the TUC, saying that he was the first candidate to visit TUC in Ekiti.
Also speaking, Comrade Ajewole James challenged Basorun Famuyibo to promise the people that he would not at the eleventh hour step down for anyone!
Responding, Basorun Famuyibo informed the labour leaders that he had already crossed the rubicon and that there is no going back.
He said, “I haven’t come this far to to step down for anybody. My passion to take Ekiti State out of the woods is what is driving me and I will not rest on my oars until that aim is achieved; until every son and daughter of Ekiti can proudly say the we have achieved Ekiti of dreams.”
