….Seeks Support For C’River

Shortly after his emergence as the governor-elect of Cross River State by the Independent Natıonal Electoral Commission, INEC, after the March 18 gubernatorial election, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, met with the United Nations, UN, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Matthias Schmale.

Receiving Mr. Schmale in Calabar, the governor-elect, Otu, promised to partner with the international community to open up opportunities and better the lives of Cross Riverians.

Prince Otu Media revealed that the incoming governor expressed delight over the visit, describing the discussion as very fruitful.

He highlighted agriculture, rural development, among others as his key areas of interest.

Also speaking, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Schmale, congratulated the governor-elect and expressed his readiness to work with the incoming administration to address the issues of rural development, agriculture and others in Cross River State.

Otu, a for.mer federal lawmaker, who represented Odukpani/Calabar Municipal federal constituency in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2011, and Cross River South senatorial district from 2011 to 2015, was announced winner of the Cross River State gubernatorial poll after he garnered 258,619 votes, leaving his main challenger and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Sandy Onor, with 179,636 votes.
