The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has been suspended from office by a Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, in Jabi, pending the determination of a substantive suit.

The court, presided over by Justice Danlami Senchi, gave the order following an application of interlocutory injunction asking the court to suspend Oshiomhole, having been suspended as a member of the APC by the party in Edo State.

An applicant, Oluwole Afolabi, filed the application, where Oshiomhole and the APC are first and second respondents respectively.

Afolabi argued that Oshiomhole’s rights as an APC member is currently abated, following his suspension by the party, adding that as such, he cannot continue in office as chairman of the party, especially as he has not challenged the suspension.

The applicant further argued that with his suspension from the party, Oshiomhole cannot continue to enjoy benefits from the APC.

Oshiomhle and the APC were represented in the suit by Damian Dodo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

Ruling on the matter, on Wednesday, Justice Senchi held that the second respondent wrongfully kept the first respondent in office as its National Chairman; ordered Oshiomhole to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party and urged the APC to desist from acknowledging him as its National Chairman.
