The deputy governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, has described sports as one of the prerequisite for the achievement of peace and unity in any given society.

Hon Kadafur stated this on Tuesday, when the Association of Badminton Clubs In Nigeria, ABCIN, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.

Kadafur said that Borno State has placed maximum priority on the development of sports and is willing to promote the game of badminton in the state.

Assuring the association of the Borno State government’s readiness to partner with the Badminton Association of Nigeria, the deputy governor urged the officials to give fair treatments to all teams while officiating games.

The Association of Badminton Clubs in Nigeria described the deputy governor as one of the major contributors to the development of badminton game in Nigeria.

The ABCIN North-East zonal representative, Mallam Audu Adamu Danasabe, said that ABCIN is planning to organize a tournament with a view to showcase talents in the field of badminton as well as bring unity and understanding among the sports lovers.

The association later presented a medal to the deputy governor in recognition of his contribution to the progress and development of badminton in the state.
