The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, yesterday received thousands of defectors from the Social Democratic Party, SDP
The SDP defectors are from the 9 local government areas of Southern Borno, namely: Askira/Uba, Chibok, Damboa, Biu, Hawul, Shani, Bayo, Kwaya kKusar and Gwoza local government areas.
Presenting the defectors, an elder statesman, Alhaji Sani Medugu, narrated that the decampees met him in Southern Borno during the presidential election and expressed their interest to join the APC and he promised to lead them.
Speaking, the chairman of the decampees from Askira/Uba Local Government Area of the state, Musa Umoru, said that they decamped because of the good leadership and developmental projects of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and wish to be part of the success story.
Receiving the decampees, the Borno State APC Chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, expressed happiness for the wise and bold step taken by the SDP decampes, explaining that he was once an SDP candidate in the past before moving to APC.
He promised them equal treatment and let them know that Governor Zulum and APC stakeholders are all aware of their sacrifice for the betterment of Borno State.
