The Calabar, Cross River State-based Brother of the Cross and Star, BCS, has declared that its Spiritual Leader, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, is well and alive.
Contrary to the rumours making the rounds about the demise of Olumba Obu, CompassNG can authoritatively report that facts available have shown that the sole spiritual head and leader of BCS, Olumba Olumba Obi is not dead but alive, hale and hearty.
Our correspondent was part of the team of journalists from the Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, led by it’s chairman, Comrade Archibong Bassey, on a visit to Ambo, the world headquarters of the BCS yesterday, to ascertain if Olumba was still alive.
It was discovered that Olumba was still alive, a development that prompted members of the organization to describe the rumour as wickedness and lie from the pit of hell.
The visitation coincided with the Great Feast of the Lamb, organized by the organization as part of activities marking the BCS Leader’s birthday, where His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu prayed for peace in the families and the nation at large.
Leader Olumba urged his followers to embrace love as the greatest weapon against hate and all divisive tendencies, stressing that false rumours have the tendency of spreading like wild fire.
He urged Christians to imbibe the lessons of love as demonstrated by the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ during his travails in the hands of the Jews.
Obu stated that he isn’t surprised because it’s not the first time that BCS is facing false accusations, adding that by now adherents should be comforted by the fact that such acts are based on the ignorance of their teachings and what the organisation represents.
Obu, who doubles as one of the Grand Patrons of the NUJ, advised journalists to see their job as a sacred duty which should be approached with serious level of ethical concerns.
In her remarks, the Cross River State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Bassey, who led members on the solidarity visit to their patron, said it is surprising to note that mischief makers can intentionally choose to mislead the public with fabricated reports.
Comrade Bassey said that several reports in the public domain suggested that His Holiness Olumba Obu is dead, while others stated that he is suffering from cancer and had been flown abroad for treatment.
The NUJ Chairman further stated that having interacted with Obu, journalists can let the world know the truth.
Also at the ceremony were Nollywood stars, including Queen Ebiyeji-Japhet, Bobby Ogoloma,Vincent Opurum, and Adigo Maria, who made their presence at ‘Feast of The Lamb’ ceremony, which kick-started on Tuesday at the BCS headquarters in Calabar.
In his speech, Vincent stated that one of his colleagues was responsible for the visit, adding that he was honoured to have met the brotherhood’s leader, Olumba Olumba.
He said, “I’m honoured that I came to celebrate, amongst the brethren, the king of kings and the lord of lords.”
