The management of Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA, has ordered the closure of the institution with immediate effect.

Subsequently, all students have been directed to vacate the campus by 6pm on Sunday by the management.

The directive was contained in a statement issued by AAUA acting Registrar, Mr Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa.

The closure followed mounting tension over Saturday’s accident, which led to the death of eight students of the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that a road mishap in front of the university had resulted in the death of the students.

This development led to students of the institution taking to the streets to protest the killing of their colleagues in the accident.
