As part of efforts to ensure educational advancement in his constituency, a member of the House Representatives, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey has commissioned 6 classroom blocks in Idundu, Akpabuyo Local Government, Cross River state.
Bassey, a former deputy speaker in the state House of Assembly, now represents the people of Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi constituency at the green chamber in Abuja.
While unveiling the project yesterday in Idundu, Bassey said he expects the project to improve educational infrastructure as well as provide a conducive learning environment for children in the community.
He thanked his constituents for giving him the opportunity to serve them, adding that more efforts will be made to encourage human capital development in the area.
Bassey disclosed that the project is the beginning of an important achievement towards both the educational and economic development of the community.
In a vote of thanks, one of the community leaders, Chief Bassey Ikpeme, thanked the House member for the initiative, describing it as ‘thoughtful.’
He said so far the people were satisfied and proud of Hon Bassey’s representation in the House of Representatives; urging other leaders to emulate him.
“We are proud of Rep Joseph Bassey and has represented us very well as seen in the facilitation of these classrooms.
“He has demonstrated his commitment to delivery dividends of democracy to his constituents. We enjoin others to borrow a leave and think back home”, he stated.
The symbolic event was graced by the Chairman, Community and Social Development Agency in the state, Chief Cyril Anthony, traditional leaders from the community as well as representatives from the ministry of education.
