The Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters to the governor of Cross River State, Hon. Chris Mbu-Ogar has called on members of the National Assembly from Cross River State to leverage his office to enhance collaboration with the state government.

Mbu-Ogar made the call when he led a delegation from his office in Abuja on a courtesy visit to the member representing Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, in the House of Representatives, recently.

He informed the honourable member that his visit was an extension of an ongoing dialogue initiated in a previous meeting between the governor and National Assembly members, reinforcing the governor’s commitment to the principle of ‘One State, One Leadership, One Interest.’

The SA urged representatives to utilize the platform provided by the governor to promote growth and development within the state.

He advocated for more frequent meetings among National Assembly members, admitting that regular discussions would create an environment where challenges can be openly addressed and mutual support can also be fostered.

In his response, the member representing Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Bassey praised the governor for his proactive approach in uniting National Assembly members across party lines.

He noted that the earlier meeting convened by the governor exemplified Prince Otu’s dedication to collaborative and inclusive governance.

He said, “Governor Otu has led by example, demonstrating that after elections, it’s time for governance. He is a governor for everyone.”

Rt. Hon. Bassey highlighted some of Governor Otu’s accomplishments within his first year in office, including significant reductions in insecurity and the construction of roads across the three senatorial districts.

The NASS member pledged his support for the current administration, saying, “My doors are always open. Rest assured, whenever you call on us to contribute to a better Cross River, we will be available. We share a unity of purpose, and as a team, we will work for the benefit of the state.”

He further expressed his commitment to building on the achievements of his predecessor through his roles in various committees in the House of Representatives.
