The Cross River State Commissioner for Urban Housing, Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Iqwe, has vowed to do everything within her reach to ensure that destitution problem is tackled in the state.
The commissioner made the remarks while playing host to the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Opal Group, Chief Higgins Peters, yesterday in her office in Calabar.
She said that the sector under her watch would experience a tremendous turnaround, given the kind of blueprint given to her to execute by the administration of Senator Bassey Edet Otu, who had mandated her to do everything to ensure that destitution is checked.
Describing Chief Peters as a political stakeholder, who had been supportive to ensure that the Senator Otu-led administration succeeds, the commissioner commended Peters for standing behind her during her moment of trial.
She said, “I commend you for playing the role of father, big brother, uncle and political pillar. God shall reward you and keep you alive.”
She promised to live by the counsel of Peters, whose counsel had always revolved round success.
Describing Peters as a caucus chairman, refined gentleman, notable leader extraordinaire, the commissioner assured him and other stakeholders on his entourage of effective service delivery, promising not to let them down in the task ahead
She added, “It’s an honor to welcome my esteemed caucus leader, my big brother and a strong believer and supporter of the “People First Agenda” mantra of His Excellency, the executive governor of Cross River State, High Chief Higgins Peters, to my office today. Together, we will continue our mission to success.”
Responding, the CEO of Opal Group High Chief Peters commended the commissioner for the honour done him, praying God to give her the wisdom and sense of direction in the task ahead.
