The immediate past chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon. Ofem Obeten Ebri, has been given award of honour by Ijom ward All Progressives Congress, APC, umbrella body, under the aegis of Ketabebe Progressives Forum, KPF, for providing better service delivery to his people in the area of infrastructural and human capital development during his stint as the chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area.
Ofen also bagged the award of honour for his numerous contributions towards the development of the APC in the local government and above all, for the effort that he put in to ensure victory for the party in the March 2023 governorship polls, which ushered in the present administration in the state.
In his remarks while receiving the award of honour from the APC umbrella body at Ijom ward, the former council boss, Ofem said, “This award is an honour done me. I am not joking with this award because it came from my very dear people, who saw this as a way to encourage me.”
The former council chairman charged the forum not to limit the award to him alone, but extend it to other sons and daughters of the community, home and in diaspora, who had distinguished themselves in their various areas of human endeavors to spearhead development in Ijom community.
The former chairman commended the effort of Prof. John Inyang, who had exhibited exceptional leadership qualities by providing a shoulder for many weak ones in the community to lean on.
In his earlier remarks, a chieftain of the ruling APC and leader of the forum, Mr. Richard Ofem, averred that the award of was honour bestowed on individuals known to had rendered selfless service to the less-privileged and those who also given assistance to the APC to win the last elections in the area.
The forunm leader said, “This award of honour is not just an ordinary award given to any Tom, Dick or Harry, but our own little way of showing recognition to our dear leaders who had distinguished themselves in the area of human development.”
