A pro-democracy organization, Campaign for Dignity in Governance, CDG, appears to have concluded arrangements to hold a powerful meeting to deliberate on what to do to compel the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to declare interest in the 2023 Presidency without further delay.

Investigations have revealed that the group, under the leadership of renowned vocal activist and public commentator, Comrade Razaq Olokoba, is hell bent on dragging the former two-term governor of Lagos State into the race, because of his possession of the sterling qualities needed from anyone aspiring to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

A source close to the organization confided in our correspondent that the meeting is imperative for the sake of the generality of the Nigerian people, saying that the country has gone beyond anyone that would use the slot for a ‘trial and error’ gamble.

The leader of the group, Olokoba, was not available for comments as he was said to be out of town on holiday, but the group’s co-covener, Comrade Titi Akosa, said that the issue is an internal one, promising to get in touch at the appropriate time.

Recall that several groups across the country and in the Diaspora have been mounting pressure on the minister directly and indirectly to throw his hat into the presidential race ring, a pressure which the former governor off Lagos has yet to give expected response, because of his focus on the job of Nigeria’s infrastructure development which the President has saddled him with.

However, from the looks of things, the organization appears very determined to go ahead with the meeting, banking on its constitutional permissibility.
